Your mission

You will build and run the operational backbone of the business as hexafarms scales beyond its current team, product and geo-landscape. This is a senior leadership mandate covering planning, execution and organisation building, with full ownership of how the company operates day to day.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has done this before: built the systems, hired the team and scaled the operations of a start-up through several funding rounds, and wants to do it again inside AgTech.

About the role

Own the company's operations. Run the planning cycle, KPI reporting and leadership cadence, so priorities and progress stay visible and owners stay accountable.
Build and scale the operations function as the company scales commercially. Design the processes, team structure and reporting lines needed to support the business as headcount and customer numbers grow.
Lead customer operations and deployment. Own the path from signed contract to live greenhouse, covering onboarding, technical rollout and ongoing customer success across the grower base.
Own commercial reporting, and financial operations. Build the process after a deal is signed to collected revenue, own budgeting, cash runway and reporting to the board, working closely with the CEO and finance.
Build the organisation. Own headcount planning and the hiring engine, run onboarding, and keep a high performance bar as the team grows.
Own risk, compliance and governance. Put the right data protection, contract and operational risk practices in place as the company scales into new markets.
Partner with the CEO on strategy and execution. Sit on the leadership team, shape company direction, and own the operating plan that turns it into results across functions.

Your profile

Proven track record scaling a start-up's operations through multiple funding rounds, from seed or Series A through to Series C/D or a comparable growth stage.
3+ years of senior operational leadership experience, ideally as a COO, VP Operations or Head of Operations.
Experience owning budget, cash runway and board reporting in a lean finance environment.
Experience building and leading teams through fast headcount and revenue growth, including the difficult calls that come with holding a high bar.
Comfortable operating inside a small, founder-led business and holding a senior seat on the leadership team.
Experience managing external vendors or technology partners is a plus.
AgTech, food-tech, greenhouse or another operationally intensive domain is an advantage, not a requirement.
Business fluent English and German – you will be working from Berlin (or Munich).

We're a team of people who probably wouldn't end up in the same room anywhere else. Hardcore programmers, electronics engineers, commercial operators, biologists and laser physicists, all working towards one goal: making commercial food production at least 30% more efficient. It's ambitious, and that's the point.

We're building something new, with no established playbooks and no interest in bureaucracy for its own sake.

As Head of Operations, you'll work directly with the CEO and leadership team, with the freedom to challenge how things are done, build what doesn't exist yet, and grow with the company as it scales. You'll shape the organisation, build the operating model, and take on a broader leadership role as the business evolves.
